260513.1 · Further project charter template simplifications (#1762)
note
The purpose of a project charter is to define the governance, operations, and scope of a project within the OpenJS Foundation, and to connect the project’s leadership structure with the Foundation’s governance through the Cross Project Council (CPC).
Adapting this template charter to your project’s needs should be as simple as:
- Replace
${PROJECT_NAME}with the name of your project in the title just below.- Explain what the project is about (see Section 1).
- Clarify whether the project is governed by its maintainers or a Technical Steering Commmittee (see Section 3).
- Provide a link to your
GOVERNANCE.mdfile (see Section 3).- Remove this note and the various tips on the page.
Please reach out to the CPC for pre-approval prior to modifying any of the other parts of the charter.
To get the charter reviewed:
- Open a pull request with the draft charter in your own repository. Do not merge it!
- Follow the CPC’s process for charter approvalgithub.
